These montage prints were produced in 2012 as a retrospective project looking back a decade of the changing relationship between “the West” and the Middle East. The original negatives were created in 2003, when the United States invaded Baghdad at the start of the war in Iraq. Each print sets a negative exposed during an anti-war rally in Rome, Italy, against a negative exposed in the strikingly beautiful monuments to imperialism, tourism, and Christianity around the city.
